Day 12: Ethiopian + Gelato and MORE

July 17, 2010

Today was not a skimpy food day in the least! (for those of you who think I am “not eating enough” – ha)

Started the day with coffee out of a mug that my daughter made to take to college. Ha. This thing is the size of a soup bowl, so I didn’t fill it all the way. But it’s pretty and a very nice way to start the morning. I was missing her today and it felt good to drink out of her mug.

"my drank"

And there was a surprise message at the bottom. πŸ™‚

After that I went to work out with the trainer. When I came back, I had one of my very favorite post-workout breakfasts. This is so perfect when I’m all hot and sweaty: Fage 0% fat Greek yogurt, with blueberries, walnuts and a drizzle of agave. YUM. It was just right.

Went to work. Flurry of work. Co-workers brought in lunch from theΒ hamburger place across the street. I asked for my favorite, a turkey burger with grilled onions and cheese on whole wheat bread. And a side of sweet potato fries which we split.

I think they were kind of taken aback when I whipped out my camera. I tried to explain and they were like, uh huh. Okay. I’m weird. That’s fine.

Late afternoon pick-me-up:

Later that evening it became clear I was going to have to work for a very long time. Like super late. I called the family to see if they wanted to come have dinner on the Avenue with me. As it turned out, 16 and my mom were NOT HUNGRY (they had just made pizza at home) and so my only dinner companion was Mr. McBody! As in, a surprise impromptu date night! We were extremely excited.

First, we tried to go here but there was a 45 minute wait. Packed. I didn’t really have 45 minutes so we went to the Ethiopian place where I took Mary when she was here. We had the same mixed plate to share. It was good.

Spicy spicy spicy! I wanted ice cream after that. So we went down to the gelato store and ordered a small combo cup of mint chip (which I turned out not too like; mint chip ice cream reminds me too much of toothpaste) and Mexican dark chocolate (now THAT I liked: YUM!). I had about 3 tiny shovel-shaped spoonfuls. Which was perfect.

I went back to work and worked until 11. Then I came home and crashed. Only got up at 1:30am to do this because I woke up with my TOE in excruciating, throbbing pain. But that’s a different story. I took aspirin, and I blogged. I hope it improves this weekend.
